I posted on another thread that I've been wondering the same thing as OP for years.  I sometimes even come on this board to see if I can get a better understanding of where the pro-illegal immigration posters are coming from.

I truly think it must come down to money.  Maybe we need to follow the money.

Who is going to benefit from the millions of dollars being spent in CA to provide illegal immigrants with health insurance?  Maybe some providers, but mostly it will be the insurance companies who benefit.  Taxpayers pay for the health insurance, and the state pays the insurance companies.  Maybe that's why that law ultimately passed?

In Maryland, CASA de Maryland is an insanely corrupt organization that is raking in money and has a ton of political influence.

There are plenty of wealthy people in the US who are benefiting from the current system of illegal immigration.

Maybe I'm a cynic, but I truly believe it must come down to money.  Why else would there be such a lack of support for immigration reform?  This seems like it should be an issue that people should agree on.  Illegal immigration benefits nobody, except the wealthy (cheap labor) and politicians (votes).[/quote]

DP. I agree. Ironically, the child of a legal immigrant, fired after 28 years of work, who volunteered at CASA de Maryland, and told their parent they didn't think they helped with "that kind of advice". If they can't help a legal immigrant, barely keeping their head above water, with some employment advice, what do they do? I can't tell you how sad I am about this legal immigrant - losing their beloved job - over a purely innocent mistake. So, so, so upset.[/quote]
