NP. I am not really grasping why people are contesting the notion that uneducated children have a lot of catching up to do in order to thrive in school, especially when they have to learn a new language and are lacking vocabulary even in their native language. It is a pure fact that some people have an educated, extensive vocabulary and some have a limited vocabulary in their native language, depending on their life experiences. Comparing all this to a genius ancient poet who may not have known how to write but was clearly exposed to an education and extensive vocabulary is really weird.
Nobody is disputing that they have catching up to do. Just that it's not true that they don't speak any language.
The original quote that we’re discussing is the person who said it’s not true that there are people “who don’t know any language well”. That is very different than saying “they don’t speak any language “.
People are probably not communicating with their friends and family with points and grunts (or, if they are, it's not because they don't know any language well).
