It matters considerably. There are 2 girls from MYS that are now on the US Soccer National Teams from when her DD played at McLean. If she gave advantage to that team then, that would explain why MYS has more players on the YNT than any other club currently. You can debate why but MYS has the most current YNT from this area, that is a fact. Her DD played at MYS when these girls were selected, that is a fact. She was a scout then, that is a fact. Now the her DD plays for FCV, suddenly FCV players are getting the lions share of invites, including her DD. See a pattern here? It's a major problem of biased invites along with nepotism.
This post shows the poster's ignorance of the process. The Training Centers only go up to U15 - so these MYS girls never had the opportunity to play in the GDA when they were also young enough to be at the Training Centers. Argument relative to these players is idiotic. As for the scout...she took the job BEFORE her daughter went to the GDA. Her daughter then left MYS one year later to join the strongest team in that age group in the area. Also, FCV had almost as many players in the Training Center before her daughter joined that club. Are you suggesting that her daughter should have stayed on a lower team and not joined the best team she could have to please the scout's critics? That is stupid. Are you suggesting that a career soccer person turn down a job that career soccer people would strive for to please critics that cannot and will not ever be pleased? Also stupid. Are you suggesting that a scout should evenly distribute Training Center spots among clubs to please critics? Then what is the point of the Training Center if it is for equal participation? One could argue that GDA deserves even more spots than they receive but that the complainers are costing deserving kids these spots. Like many posters have said, if you think your DD deserves to be in the Training Center, tell her coach. If you believe that GDA players have unfair advantages over non GDA players, then have your DD go tryout at a GDA. If you feel like the club a scouts child plays for has an unfair advantage, have your DD tryout for that team. If you think that high school soccer is more important than playing GDA soccer, then enjoy your DD playing high school soccer and stop complaining that other players don't value it. Maybe, just maybe, if your club practices 2 or 3 times a week for 6 months of the year, your DD isn't getting better as quickly as the girls in the GDA that get 10 months of training 4 times a week without abusing their bodies from overuse in HS seasons. The people complaining here sound pathetic. Make your choice, be happy with it and STFU.
10 month training cycle and 4 times a week really seems to be helping WSVA. Solid post here. Clearly effective training. I mean looks all of those ECNL clubs fleeing in mass to the GDA. It’s one scout and one area and one club. The entire system is not broken. Plenty of ecnl players getting into ynt camps.
