I’m a Jewish former teacher. Should I hang ornaments on a tree when I don’t have one?
No. Definitely pull them out and scowl at them every year because the kids didn't get you were Jewish and just assumed their lovely teacher would like this ornament they picked out.
I'm not Christian either but "Y'all need Jesus" Both of you.
What would you do if someone nicely gave you something for which you have no need and likely something you have received dozens of every few years? Keep it - so you have a pile of stuff or can’t close a cabinet? Donate it? If you get brownies and are on a diet or get nuts and you’re allergic or get a sweater that doesn’t fit or an the 30th ornament that you have no use for - what would you do with it?
Then friggin' donate it. I just don't want to hear about what you want/don't want. The kids (esp. in ES) are very proud of their teacher gifts, at least in our family/circle. They love giving them. If you can't find the joy in that, that says more about you. And guess what? Guess how many gifts I get in the work place? Let me give you a hint, it rhymes with "hero." So suck it up. Act grateful. And then do whatever it is you want with it.
