It's nice to see this issue resolved. & It's also nice to see the accountability some take for their children. I completely agree that some shouldn't be in mainstream school because they can be a danger when acting out of control. However, some parents don't want to accept this & would rather put teachers, counselors, & other children at risk. Working with children is demanding in every way. I was proud to see some of you concerned not only with the safety of the students, but also, those who work with them everyday. It can be discouraging to be in such a tough field & feel like parents & students don't appreciate you or care about your safety. I'm obviously not saying people shouldn't be concerned with their children's safety, but I am saying you should also be concerned with the safety of those who are serving you & your children & hold your kids accountable when they are wrong. Teach them to respect everyone in the building, their peers, teachers, counselors, janitorial staff, & administrators. Everyone should be working together for the benefit of the children.
What has been resolved? Can you be more specific?
Yawn. Most boring topic ever
Agree but I still want to know what, if anything, has been resolved
Case is still being investigated. The staffer works for both Janney and JAC and each is doing their own investigation and will make their own decision about any consequences. Apparently there is a clear video of the entire incident but Janney cannot share the video with JAC which is kind of nuts. There were also multiple other JAC staffers who witnessed what happened. According to the Janney staffer who briefed a group of parents about the incident this staffer, having reviewed the video, had no concerns about the safety of Janney students from this employee but it sounds like there are still some questions about whether the staffer could have better handled what sounds like a wild outburst from this child and de-escalated the situation rather than taking a hard line approach. This was not from the school briefing but apparently there have been a number of incidents with this particular child.
