With all the extra information, it would make sense for you to try a different team. If you want to increase your chances to receive a MOCO offer, make sure you sign up for their fall training program. I think a lot of offers are only formalized at tryouts based on what they see during the fall training program. I heard of a player who was injured during tryouts and was still offered a spot on a MOCO roster based on the skills and attitude she showed on the court during the fall training program. I suggest that you still show up for the VV tryouts to make sure you have a backup plan in case you don't make a MOCO team. Here is a caveat though: if you don't make a top MOCO team, you might end up with a less experienced coach or a parent coach in MOCO as well. I have a friend whose DD is on the bottom MOCO team and they are not happy with the coaching. Before you accept an offer, check the standing of the team in the year prior and compare it with VV. You could assume that a better standing may reflect better coaching and player commitment. If they are roughly equivalent, I would not jump ships. MOCO has a "meet the coaches" event, where we saw the 1s and 2s coaches for my DDs age, but I don't think they had a coach for the 3s team at the time. They said that some coaches could not make it to the event, but I feel like they simply didn't know who would coach their bottom team until later on.
This is the OP, the Moco Fall Program seems like a great program, but it is 30-35 miles away from my home. I don't know if it's worth the 1 1/2 hour drive, and it sucks because it looks like such a good program. I'll keep thinking about it, thanks for the tip!
You are already a hero for driving from Lorton to Fairfax for VV, which - I assume - is not an easy drive either. It would take you 2-3x longer to make it to Bethesda for MOCO practices / programs. you have Monument Volleyball close to you, but it ranks lower than VV. It looks like you don't have good choices that are reasonably priced. I agree with the PP, your best choice is to stay with VV, unless your DD has a chance to make a college team. Hopefully, the VV players change their attitudes as they get older and wiser.
