I think it’s a combination of demographic factors. If Clancy was living in a trailer on food stamps, this may just get passing mention in the news like the (sadly way too many) other cases of parents killing their kids. If she were black, this may still make the news if we’re talking about an attractive, UMC, well educated mom who posted cute photos on Instagram.

People from any demographic don’t “normally kill their kids.” But if you look up all the cases listed previously in this thread only a couple of them are UMC. I think that’s the distinction more so than race (although race definitely plays a huge role too). The cases that get the most news coverage are of UMC people. The people that DCUM demographic would be more likely to sympathize with fit UMC demographic. [/quote]
