I think there's a spectrum of pressure levels both at private and at public; Bronx Science is easier than Stuy and Brooklyn Tech is easier than Bronx Science, for example, while all three are significantly better than "lackluster." Likewise the top GenEd schools. And there are still the suburbs if none of those work out. Likewise, there are a whole lot of gradations in private school between Trinity and (say) Steiner or BWL.[/quote]
