M&D DC lost maybe their best player to significant injury just before the playoffs. They still beat SkyWalkers then lost to HG in semis. Not saying they are super team or that they will all stay but they are really good, no doubt.
So when the best player goes to a different team .... what happens to the girls who stayed at M&D DC?
Is that what happened to Capital the last couple of years?
They seem to be doing well based on their record. Maybe they get more reps too?
Apologies, I guess my question was unclear. The last 2 years of Capital teams, the '27s and '28s. Has it been a key injury to their top player, or has that player(s) gone to a different team, causing both teams to drop like a stone in the rankings and now be playing in third tier brackets? Please keep it anonymous, if you can.
Injuries to top players hurt them, but more so the equal playing time. If they played the top 12 with a few extra middies rotating in, the records would be much better. Capital would rather see the whole team get recruited to decent schools rather than the top third to top schools. Quantity over quality. Great if you're at the bottom, not as much if towards the top.
OK, thanks. My worry for those girls on those teams is threefold. One, they now have 4 local area type schools (for universities that want to have exposure to Wash/Balt recruits) that are clearly better as teams than Capital is now. Whereas normally it might be just one, and another might be proximate. So now the competition for those spots from the area will go up about fourfold, and against a lot of better talent. Also, that they each have so much difficulty scoring, that is not going to be a good look for all the offensive players. Which in large part encompasses a majority of the teams. Last, because they have so much difficulty scoring, it may be difficult to get much traction to improve their standing and looks/brackets while they're now playing 20 something or mid 30s teams for the tournaments that have set their brackets. If they were high scoring and defense was more of an issue, against those opponents they might be able to get the delta up on games to allow them to move up brackets in later tournaments. That doesn't seem likely now. So they may be looking at outer fields, against low competition, while coaches take coffee or lunch breaks or get a peak at the top 2028s for example in the '27s case. It must all be so frustrating for them.
Fine, the 2028 and 2027 teams are not as good as the teams before them. Why does that mean the Capital Lacrosse Club, with all its success and no organizational changes as far as I am aware, is not worthy of top consideration by the best 2029 players? Please explain this to me.
Not sure if this is for me? Maybe you meant to quote or reply to someone else. I do feel for those Capital girls in those classes, and hope they can get it going back in a positive direction. It must be very stressful for them.
The most stressing part will be choosing between Yale or Michigan.
