I really don’t miss Samantha in AJLT. I liked her fine in SATC and have no issues with her.
Although I would love to see a sex-positive 60something character, I think her character's shenanigans wouldn't age well and its would be tricky too figure out how to handle her well. But I'm really bummed that the humiliating storyline in the second movie was her last hurrah.
Agree about the last movie! I just think AJLT is missing some comic relief that Samantha added. Although rarely, she was also a big sister to Carrie.
I think it could have been done well if they explored other sides of her character. How she coped with cancer was refreshing back in the day. There was also a glimpse of Samantha not obsessed with sex during that time too. It was well done and they could have explored her next chapter. However, given how they handled the movies it’s likely her character would have remained a sex-obsessed senior citizen which would have been boring as hell.
We should start a fan fiction piece for AJLT that includes Samantha married to Smith raising an adopted kid or Smith's love child that he never knew existed until he got famous and an old one night stand reappeared and then died. I'd love to see Samantha as a step-mother to a an older teen/college student. I'd also prefer to see Miranda with a happy ending with Steve. And, I'd like to see Trey resurface along with Aidan. I'd also like to see the women reckon with the crime in current day NYC. There's zero chance any of them would be walking around all dolled up with flashy bling in NYC today.
