He didn't "get off with a $5000 fine".  The law states that the maximum penalty for each charge of supplying alcoholic beverages is $2500 per teenager. Dipsh*t, according to the other survivor, they did as well as cold beer cans at the scene thrown from the car.

This isn't a huge mystery.  The hosting parents should have been charged with more.  Even the parents of the driver and the dead kids with prior drinking violations, should be charged.  They failed as parents.[/quote]
