A and H were born when mom was 16.  Grandparents pushed for a shotgun wedding, but their was no way dad (if you can call him that) was going through with it.  He split to who-knows-where.  Mom got her GED, lived with her parents because she needed their help, and started pursuing a medical coding certificate online.  Then there was the abortion.  She didn't want to do it, but she couldn't have another one and her parents would have killed her.  She never told anyone except one girlfriend and she felt really bad about it-she'd gone to the March for Life in high school like everyone else.  After that, she started going to Mass with her mom.  She started going to more Church activities, partly because she needed to feel like she was back on the right track, and partly because they were the only activities her parents didn't give her a hard time about.  When she met Xavier at a Parish bowling trip, she felt like he was the answer to her prayers.  He is tall, dark, and conservative.  Her parents were so relieved that they didn't even give her a hard time about the fact that he wasn't born in the US and isn't white.  Mary was born a year after the wedding, named after her grandmother and, of course, the Virgin Mother.[/quote]
