I don’t read that as a plug for a local school. In fact, just to point out the obvious: a magnet School of x people vs. a local school of x people has the exact same impact on capacity numbers for the county.

Especially since they are not factoring the new school into the current boundary review, I think there is compelling circumstantial evidence that they are at least strongly considering a magnet or academy there.[/quote]

A magnet school would have the same impact on capacity numbers for the county as a whole, but it definitely wouldn’t have the targeted impact on overcrowding that’s needed. And reducing overcrowding is probably one of the top concerns of many people in the county (everyone agrees something needs to be done about Coates). Whereas I’ve never seen “the lack of magnet schools” raised as an issue by anyone until FCPS bought this school. [/quote]
