U19 RCC's were this weekend for MD/Del region. Next Level came in first Wolves- 2nd Freedom- 3rd Warhawks- 9th (ouch) Lots of low scoring, close games. I think the results have to change the narrative on this thread that NL isn't one of the top clubs--just my opinion
I think the gap is certainly closing. One issue I see for NL is that she uses many players across age groups which makes me wonder about depth at each age group.
I agree with the lack of depth. I think NL only has one '25 D1 commit. But, what a great opportunity for the U16s who get to play up and go to NCC for both age groups
Wrong. There are 2 D1s at '25, at least. And several at top D3 scools.
When you say top D3, who we talking about? My understanding of D3, and I'm admittedly not an expert, is that there is a big drop off after the top 5-6 programs. We live in Virginia so my daughter doesn't play on a team in that region; but I think it is great that an "underdog" club could win. Congrats to them.
Are you kidding? This is completely inaccurate. Yes, Midd, Hopkins, and a couple others are the perennial favorites. But there are lots of AMAZING D3 programs and those schools are always in the mix (i.e. Bates, Ursinus, F&M, Tufts, CNU, Lynchburg, Rowan, Salisbury, and others). And there are some great ones on the rise (i.e., Bryn Mawr is doing great things). And NL has some players committed to these D3 schools.
Does NL have any players committed to Hopkins, Middlebury, Tufts, Salisbury, or Williams? Those are the top 5. My understanding of that club is that they have a few strong D1 players, and a number of middle level D3 players and a strong U16 team. I think that makes it more impressive that they won.
Hopkins and Midd are top of the heap every year. The others are generally in the top 20 along with several other regulars that get shuffled up/down. It's not correct to say the schools you list are the top 5 every year. I just went to their IG page and their seniors on the U19 page show that they have D3 players for Bates, Hamilton, and Lynchburg, and those are all 3 very good D3 teams. Their coach is fantastic, imo. She plays as a team vs. plays to the superstars on the team.
I am not that familiar with Next Level's U19 team; but I would not classify Hamilton as a very good D3 team.
Ah, but they leveraged the sport to get into a very good school.
