These investigators are making some assumptions about their conclusions and aren't asking themselves if they are and none of the others are checking that. I think it's an assumption that only one person "wrote" the note. Santa was a professor -- what if he dictated it like he was at a lecture to someone else who wrote the words down, which would explain the "Listen.." part. What if the person writing it wasn't the best at spelling? Why assume the misspellings are to disguise the writing? Maybe one person wrote it part of the way and the other took over, or had input? I'm not sure I'll be able to trust their conclusions at the end.
Did they say it was only one person? My impression was that they were suggesting it was a combined effort with Patsy writing.
Seriously, what is the obsession with Santa?!
No one wants to believe it's the parents. Creepy Santa sounds like the best alternative perhaps?
It's not that no one wants to believe. It's that some of the best criminal experts are saying it is almost unheard of for a murder of a young child that brutal to be the parents with no history of abuse or violence. This particular show, at least part 1, seemed to be implying i t could be Burke and that perhaps the parents were covering, but as others have mentioned, despite some social awkwardness, he has lived a fairly normal life with no violent episodes. The whole thing is full of contradictions.
If it was an accident, there is no reason to expect him to be violent.
