Allowing a year to plan for the switch might have been annoying but it was the correct decision. There will be a rule in place about August kids playing on grade level. ECNL went through all of these major changes to address trapped players. They are not going to allow on grade kids to get bumped to a lower team to accommodate a player who wants to cheat the system and play down a grade level. It’s changing to school year and they will create rules to enforce it. Stand by a few months for the rules is what our Director has said.
Finally someone with some sense. It just doesnt make sense to allow Aug players to play down a grade. It's funny because hard 8/1 cutoff guy is getting his butt handed to him + slowly realizing that his position is dunb.
They should go with 9/1 instead of 8/1 to avoid this.
Yes they should have. But here we are. Even if ECNL came up with that rule, which is doubtful most misaligned Aug players won't have that rule in the feeder systems.
August misaligned kids isn't an issue, they can play up.
You are willfully trying to cause smokescreen. Nobody cares about playing up. Its Aug birthdays playing down a grade thats the issue.
Why can't they play down a grade if the age cutoff is 8-1? That makes no sense.
Come on, try an get with the program. Aug birthdays playing down (typically for wins at a younger age) causes problems when they get older. This is because college coaches wont know how to evaluate them because they're Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors playing against players a year younger than they are in school. What will happen is recruiters will just ignore the player and they'll get screwed out of playing in college.
