I'm going to say something that may be controversial and p*** some people off. My daughter is a competitive soccer player. We were so excited for her to play for QO in HS which has consistently ranked top 5 in the state. I know they have other high ranked sports teams as well (football, boys lax). How will the new Crowne be able to field competitive sports teams? Will they be able to attract good coaches and will the school even have fields when it first opens? This issue may seem ridiculous to some, but we are looking for scholarship opportunities for our daughter and worried that the good schools won't come to scout at an unknown school.
This is my concern as well. My kids are pretty well known in the circles that they play in. Opposing coaches know my kids and have given them pointers before games too. The issue is that the new school is in a whole another area, where no one knows who they are. Being established in the area they are, they're given some leeway if they have a bad start or drought because people know who they are and what they're capable of. I did have one of my kids play out of the area recently and it was a pretty bad experience. Where they didn't have time to adjust and ended up getting frozen out by that team. It was partially their own fault for not adjusting but it took a big blow to their self confidence. Luckily we have them playing with their old team again and am hoping to build them back up to where they were before. I'm not sure if the new school will even have a varsity team the first couple of years.
I know my daughter can be looked at through her club team, but playing for a reputable, top ranked HS has always been her dream. I was thinking the same thing about them being able to field a team the first year or 2.
