Gender is a social construct related to how one sees themselves and expresses themselves. If you use "either" it's sex. If you insist on "gender" then you cannot use the word "either" as there are many more genders than two. I realise you believe yourself to be "inclusive" by saying gender but it is actually more hurtful to say there are only two genders, which you did by using the word, "either.'
