We are only 2-3 weeks from the start of 2024 Spring Season. Lots of questions and schedules are out lets go! 1. Prep - Who do they board to help at X, who do they start to replace the BBQ and NK, will they introduce the 2026 attack from NL to the IAC? 2. SJC - Does the 2026 or 2025 get the start in the goal, does UVA commit play or rest/heal and does the defense step up? 3. Landon - Does coaching improve to take advantage of a talented and deep 2024 senior class? They have a few 2025 and 2026 players that should see lots of time this year. 4. Bullis - Departure of very good attacks that had a trouble with the absence of Princeton commit out for most of the season. This team struggled all year long. Will be strong in the goal and will bring another 3 talented attacks to replace the outgoing group with the #3 attack in the country. Defense should be same or better and midfield play will be up in the air. Will be a great at the X. Lost an assistant coach as well. 5. Gonzaga - has all the talent in the world but the program has a serious discipline problem and can't stay focused for an entire season. Does coaching improve on Eye Street. 6. PVI - Panthers have a terrible 2025 class and a large and talented 2026. The should be fine in the goal with an experienced 2025 and a good 2026 goalie. This team has a swiss army knife with 2025 LSM that also plays SSDM. They have a young team and new coach does that change things in South Riding. 7. EHS - a dark horse in the IAC and young team. 8. OLGC - also a young team and few new transfers but well coached. 9. SSSAS - the Saints didn't graduate any studs from their 2023 class. 10. St Albans - we shall see if they reload what was the best team they have had ever. Not likely but will play hard and will do well at the X and has a gritty attackman. 11. DeMatha - DM steps down and will assist. So will the new coach change things up some. Don't think they contend for a WCAC championship but will steal one or two wins from teams that take them lightly. Please share your opinions!
Thanks for sharing! 1. Prep's strength will really be based on how many new boarders showed up this summer and Fall. Defensively the Hoyas should be very strong. Graduating the dynamic attack duo of Burns and Kabari will be extremely tough. 2. Don't count the Cadets out as Speaks is arguably the best coach in the area. SJC is snake bite right now with some injuries, Duenkel most notably. will he return for the WCAC playoffs? 3. Landon returns practically their entire team from last Spring. Coaching is suspect at Wilson Lane. Bears have the athletes to run with most teams this Spring. 4. Bullis underachieved last year but has an exceptional 2025 class on the horizon. Expect the Bulldogs to be much more in sync come IAC playoff time as the junior will gradually adapt to the spotlight. 5. Eagles have the horses to run with any team in the area. Coaching is average and discipline continues to a distraction. 6. St Stephens - the entire team returns from last season. Saints are very well coached. 7. PVI - Panthers graduated an excellent senior class in 2023, too much instability at the coaching ranks. 8. EHS - always well coached, however graduated an elite goalie and UVA attack man. Expect the Maroon to drop off from last year's team, the Duke keeper last year, kept the Maroon in several contests alone. 9. STA - despite the loss of the 2023 team, I'm going out on a limb and will predict the Bulldogs will be better this Spring than last year. The 2023 senior bulldog squad completely underachieved for all of the hype. 10. Good Counsel - Dane Smith in now his 2nd year in Olney, added in some transfers this off-season. Would be a huge step for the program if they can make it to the WCAC semi-finals.
