The bussing for Skyview has not been set yet. They did mention a hub system but no one said where the hub locations would be. I doubt that they would be at the base HS because those are farther away from the school. I would expect the hub bus stop for Fox Mill students to be Fox Mill ES, which is walkable by the vast majority of those students. The hub system for TJ picks up some students at their base HS but plenty of the bus stops are other places. DC is attending next year and the hub stops on the list did not have a lot of the HS but are more centralized points where they can pick up multiple kids more easily.
The difference between Skyview and TJ is that TJ has a relatively small number of kids attending who live 2-4 miles away. Let's say one of the Skyview hub stops was Floris. You could fill an entire bus with kids being dropped off at that hub - so why not send that bus to their neighborhoods?
No one knows, because they have not said. I expect that the schools that are in boundaries will have normal bus routes. The schools that are not in boundary but are from the 5 impacted schools will either have a hub, for schools with a small number of kids attending, and others might have a regular bus route if they have more kids attending. For example, I believe something like 30 or more kids opted in from Fox Mill, I wouldn't be surprised if they have a route with 3-4 stops because of the number of kids. I know that there are some kids from Hughes MS that opted in, I don't know the numbers, but I would guess it would be a smaller number. Those ES might end up with a hub at their ES. But we won't know until they set the boundaries. I do know that the transportation mess is causing parents who opted in to return their kid to their base school. They would be far better off letting people know what they are planning for transportation because that is the big factor in our neighborhood. They are shooting themselves in the feet with not setting up something.
