Because a lot of foreign born Asians don't know how to swim. Swimming is not part of Asian schooling curriculum like it is in VA public schools.
My Asian roommate in grad school could not swim, ride a bike or drive. Those are considered essential life skills here, but not in Asia. Some parents might teach their kids but more likely, the kid masters them on their own.[/quote]

Glad you are so confident in your wrongness. She was raised in Loudoun County and attended LCPS until going to TJ. No mandatory swimming. Not that it’s relevant. Pittsburgh was her college town. [/quote]

The town she is from in America is in this thread's title. She lived in PA before spring break didnt she or did she attend a campus of UPitt if they have one elsewhere? She  could have learned swimming at her college if she hadnt leaned it already at the HS she attended if her HS had swimming which is the silly debate NoVAians can't agree on. Dumb. [/quote]
