STA college admissions are impressive not just because of the number of Ivy league admits but also because of the variety of schools where the boys go too.  People who say things like I'm not paying 35k to end up at U of Michigan (or fill in the blank) are absolutely clueless IMHO.  The reason to send your son to STA or kid to a private in the first place is not a means to an end (ie get in good college (narrowly defined by DCUM snobs) or else).  It is a means.  The educational experience is worth it, not because of where the boy may end up at school.
