Speaking of inner knowledge, why is it that there is so much anxiety and anger among so many members of the white community regarding the continuing coverage of potentially race-based police shootings?  Why is there so much fatigue and frustration among so many members of the white community regarding conversations about racism and racial profiling within law enforcement agencies?  
I think the feeling of superiority these angry and frustrated whites are accustomed to is fleeting.
I think they're fearful that one of the last few societal structures that clearly depicted their elite stature and plainly demonstrated their dominance over long-heralded [i]inferior[/i] groups is fading.
Law enforcement may not be the last system of systemic oppression left but it is without question the most significant and the reality that changes are imminent is just plain terrifying to some.  [/quote]

I don't think the opinions I expressed are anywhere as insulting or inflammatory as some of the comments I've seen made about blacks - and I even had the courtesy to specify some, not all.

I am not offended nor do I believe it violated this sites terms. It was simple, your comments are too sweeping and is not reality. For instance, the challenge of white elitism. I would say that there are whites who might feel somewhat relieved they don't face what minorities face but that isn't elitism. And I am certain there are some who are holding onto that feeling of elitism. But I am also convinced it is not that pervasive as some would want others to believe and I know it isn't what it was. It seems that it is important for some to perpetuate what was in order to better validate what is now and that isn't reality unless it matches closely.

So surely you can also appreciate that my comments (which were not sweeping by the way as I simply mentioned so many whites not all or even most) are indicative of my own observations and experiences being the target of racism. But you aren't relating your experience. You are pontificating on the anxiety, anger and fatigue etc. of ''so many whites'' as if that is the mood. When Hillary takes an incident that has yet to be determined and says she needs to speak directly to white people the reason it is insulting is simple, she is making it their issue. If that had been directed to the Black, or Hispanic or Asian communities because a person of their race committed an isolated act, I doubt there would be understanding. And lets face facts. As one person posted on here they counted 15 shootings in a years time of unarmed black men. One of which was Brown who was proven to have been doing more than standing there with his hands up, was not the gentle giant some tried to portray him as and in fact had a record of some violence. So, how pervasive is this? An average of about one a month? Too many? Sure. As much a happening as some want to make it? Only relates to a single race? What of the others?

We have laws that demand action. Apply those laws universally where applicable without exception. We even have special protections based on race so if a person gets out on the local level they will still answer to the feds. That has played a part in driving down the numbers and can do more to drive it down further. But there are human beings in those uniforms and there is never going to be a perfect world. [/quote]
