17:45 again. So when I try to respond to OP's request for opinions about the veil, I want to say something like this: I think in some cases hijab is worn as a political statement, given that it's not mentioned in the Quran. But do you see my dilemma? (1) OP is trying to ban any talk of Quranic foundations for hijab, and (2) Other PP only wants to talk about the veil and class status 1300 years ago, and refuses to contemplate newer meanings today, which is when OP is actually wearing her hijab. Yeesh, you people!
Your dilemma is that people refuse to say what you want them to say.
You missed my point entirely. Why should I care what anybody else says?! I don't care. My dilemma is that I feel censored because OP is trying to censor any discussion about how hijab appears nowhere in the Quran, meanhile the other PP only wants to talk about 600 AD. It's nuts.
Your feelings are your own. OP isn't trying to censor you, she just isn't interested in this part of the issue. I mean, who will stop you if you really want to talk about it? There's a ton of people out there you can engage with. I'm the PP who you so badly want to talk about a period of time other than 600 AD, and I'm just not interested. I saw a moron claiming niqabs came about to protect from kidnapping, and I set her straight on how they came about when they came about. I am simply uninterested in other parts of this discussion, but when I see a moron, I'm happy to correct.
OP brought up the topic of hijab and her religion in her post starting this thread. So to then say she doesn't want discuss how the two are related is ridiculous and illogical. And no you didn't set anything straight. Just keep blabbing your viewpoint and name call anyone that disagrees. You clearly cannot discriminate between a veil used for cultural purposes and a niqab used for political purposes. They don't even look the same. I know, I know, I'm so stupid. Oh wait it's moron now.
I'm censored PP at 21:25 but not PP directly above. It's good to know that someone else thinks this thread is a circus fun house packed with spoiled children! We have one PP who is a bully, insulting anybody she disagrees with because she thinks it's "fun", and who is by her own admission totally uninterested in contributing substance to the discussion. Then there's substance-averse OP, who posed a serious question but won't engage on a key part, i.e. the lack of Quranic support for hijab. No matter, just go on being your own bad selves. The rest of us can just give up on substance. This thread is a hoot just for the obtuseness of participants like bully PP and OP.
