Not the OP but fairly common in DC. I am friends with many from all walks if life, mostly liberal. Conversations here often start with impassioned generalization and the blanket expectation of agreement. I'm too old to argue and its not a litmus test for me in friendships. I do listen, but I only share my views and speak frankly with my husband. It just feels sort of pointless if you trend towards conservative in DC. You get painted with one tedious and extreme paint brush. I'd like to hear more about OPs thinking though. I haven't made up my mind.[/quote]

Maybe.  I just find the weight of liberalism overwhelming in DC. I am from here, it's not surprising to me. It's just reality. I prefer to enjoy my friends and not get into it all. There are obviously plenty of people who agree with me. probably plenty of people who disagree with me but I could speak to in a moderated way--just not in DC. Or at least I haven't found them.

My brother is pretty conservative and may vote for Trump.  He hasn't said for sure, but he really hates Hillary.  We do talk politics from time to time, but it would be inconceivable for politics to ever get between us.[/quote]
