You are teaching the kid to take responsibility for his own mistake.  The other lady did not commit a mistake.  She also offered alternatives to the OP, that the OP refused.

Quite possible.  The other woman is crazy and will raise crazy brats, if they take after their mother.

OP should return the suit tonight, load the kids into the car and go.  The other woman should think for a second, realize that's an absurd request, and tell OP not to return the suit, that they'll get one tomorrow on the way.  That's how it should all play out, if they are all reasonable human beings.  [/quote]
