When I talk to Liberals about gay marriage and abortion they often say " If you don't support gay marriage, don't marry a man" and " if you don't support abortion, date a woman who doesn't support abortion" So if truth is relative, and it's all about what we "want", why should I pay for 1. Welfare ( food stamps, Section 8 Housing, etc) AND Public schools and universities. I DONT WANT to pay for these. Here's what I'll say. If you want public education and welfare, personally donate your money to the government, so they can specifically use it on this. You have NO RIGHT to use my money for these things.
Just to echo some other posters, you don't get to pick and choose. Also you should educate yourself about what actually happens with your tax dollars before you start complaining about social programs, which is actually very little of your money owed each year. $59 billion, 3 percent of the total federal budget, for regular welfare and $92 billion, 5 percent of the total federal budget, for corporations. So, the government spends almost 50% more on corporate welfare than it does on these particular public assistance programs. Only 10% of your federal tax dollars go to safety net programs, the majority of it goes to 1.) Social Security and 2.) Medcaid, with Defense taking 3rd place http://www.cbpp.org/research/federal-budget/policy-basics-where-do-our-federal-tax-dollars-go
