When I talk to Liberals about gay marriage and abortion they often say " If you don't support gay marriage, don't marry a man" and " if you don't support abortion, date a woman who doesn't support abortion" So if truth is relative, and it's all about what we "want", why should I pay for 1. Welfare ( food stamps, Section 8 Housing, etc) AND Public schools and universities. I DONT WANT to pay for these. Here's what I'll say. If you want public education and welfare, personally donate your money to the government, so they can specifically use it on this. You have NO RIGHT to use my money for these things.
Since I think I recall your asking about which college you should go to for a particular career I think your question is somewhat hypothetical. Your money's not being used, and once you're 18 you can vote for politicians who agree with you. At a more general level, public schools, welfare and other social protection programs, and the military, foreign aid, etc. are all things that our elected representatives have decided are worth the use of our tax dollars. Some things I agree with, some things I disagree with, but that's the way our government works. I can vote for people who I believe are likely to try to support the things I support, but if there are enough other people in Congress and the White House who disagree then my priorities are SOL. As far as gay marriage is concerned, the applicable body of our government (the Supreme Court) decided that given the way our laws are written there is no legal justification for not permitting it. Again, that's the way our government works. You are welcome to try to organize those who feel the same way you do to amend the Constitution accordingly. That's your right.
