You Cooper parents need to get over yourself-it is very true that as of two years ago extracurricular clubs like Science Olympiad and even National Junior Honor Society were not part of the offered after school programs at Cooper. Like it or not, such activities are part of the whole schema for AAP kids to get accepted to TJ if that is on their radar, and what the PP said about very few if any kids going from Cooper to TJ is true if you look at the hard data. So maybe read between the lines before you have such a vitriolic outburst.
Perhaps you don't think the following deserved a "vitriolic outburst," but I certainly do (from the PP): And as of a couple of years ago, had no teachers who seemed interested in teaching at the AAP level, sponsoring academic activities, or being involved and engaged in the academic life of students What a crock of B.S. Cooper is full of teachers who are very engaged in the academic life of students, and also full of students who are very engaged in academics. Believe it or not, TJ is not of interest to MANY kids. It actually makes the quality of life at Cooper much more refreshing to not have this constant obsession with getting into TJ. There are other activities - theater, band, orchestra, chorus - that plenty of Cooper kids take part in, and for no other reason than they're interested in participating and not seeking some kind of middle school resume enhancer (just typing that made me queasy). It's a shame for your children that their parents have such a single-minded, laser-hot focus on getting your child into TJ. It'll be so disappointing - for you - when they don't.
