One thing has been uncovered by the Benghazi special committee. The public would have never known about the personal server held by Hillary Clinton had it not been for this committee. That is what the Dems are really upset about.
Untrue on both counts. We are sick and tired of Benghazi being used for politics, but it stretches way back to 2012. Long before the emails ever came up. And every Republican who emailed the Secretary of State knew her email address. As for who would have "uncovered" this already obvious fact, the National Archives was aware of it and made it known. But what the heck, let the Inquisitions continue!
You don't understand servers and how knowing someone's email address doesn't have anything to do with it. I know there is more to it than the following but here is a simplified explanation. This forum has a server where all of this is stored including the program needed to operate the format. So when you load this page...it's been directed to that server and your computer is connected to it through whatever browser you are using. Your isp shows up and from that they can have an idea where you are located and know what service you are using to access the internet. So your isp has a server, your browser is on a server, this website is on a server....and you never see any of that. And email directed to you goes through more than one server as well and if a person wants to route emails to more than one destination, they can. And you wouldn't know they are doing so. And then there is encryption...which I know something about but others could tell more than I.
I think that person's point was that people who emailed her knew she used a private email address. She never had a state department email address.
