What I teach my children is that this country is unfair and there is structural racism. When you see your white privileged friends do stupid things know that just because of the color of your skin you will be treated differently. AA's have been dehumanized from day one and considered all one collective unit of savages not seen as individuals sentient beings, subsequently AA's are abused and executed like animals when they are so much as suspected of a transgression. It doesn't affect me any longer, as we're all basically desensitized.  So you can preach all you like, but don't think you're changing the minds of those who don't want to hear - or who HAVE heard and realize it's steeped in history and truth but who can't  listen to it ad nauseam b/c it's like a broken record.

So a white says something offensive and there's a retort from a black person.

Wow, it seems like you are looking for a place where you are never challenged to think about other people's lives and families that are different from your own. Sorry that our society won't afford that to you. It seems like if recognizing the individuality of all people including black people bothers you so much you might need to seek professional help. It's one thing to hear something. It's another to stop being a part of the problem.[/quote]
