I wish you were correct about this, but all evidence shows otherwise. For just one example (there are many others) a US News and World Report poll showed that 51 % of Republicans do not believe Obama was born in this country and 21 % are "unsure". Therefore 72% of Republicans are at least sympathetic to the birther movement. Judson Phillips, founder of Tea Party Nation who organized the 2010 Tea Part Convention is a noted birther. Sarah Palin was the keynote speaker at the convention. Is a party's nominee for Vice President a "fringe" member of the party or a leader of it? Sorry, Republicans. I know many of you are rational people, but the majority, not a fringe, of your GOP are not.[/quote]
