My skills and knowledge are very specialized and I could slot myself back into the group, so long as the management structure does not drastically change. We are, literally, turning away Ivy League-educated senior associates from white shoe firms for a position similar to mine because we can afford to be that picky. I have extremely well qualified applicants trying to taking me out to coffee to get a foot in the door here. I am still worried about the prospects of what will happen when QE3 ends, interest rates go up, and sequestration fully hit the DC area.
