What a stupid, stupid, stupid analogy. Look, worthy tax-payers, someone making $20k working at Wal-mart isn't thinking "yummy yummy gov't is giving me more money!" when they get a tax credit refund, they're thinking "thank God I have some extra money this month, so I can buy my kid some clothes, etc." I know this because I used to be one of those people. Just because you knew some douchebag who didn't turn his lights out doesn't mean a damn thing. Maybe they developed that lousy attitude after spending some time with you! The gov't doesn't even provide those kinds of benefits to anyone. Most of these posters are insulting, out of touch, and you clearly know little to nothing about the tax system, or what kinds of government "benefits" are available to the working poor, or the non-working poor, for that matter. You just whine incessantly about nothing in particular because you want to feel like a victim.
I think the point that most people spend their own money more carefully than that of "other people's" money is relevant and not "stupid, stupid, stupid." I'm not sure what you mean by your phrase "one of those people" but if it means qualifying for a tax credit greater than the amount of taxes owed, then yes, I have been "one of those people." Does that make my opinion more valid now? Honestly, I'm surprised to hear you complain about other posters being "insulting." If anything, I feel that your post was pretty insulting to me and anyone else with a similar viewpoint.
