It's only Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts that have a strict 180 calendar day makeup day requirement.[/quote]

And these are all states with better educational outcomes than Maryland. Massachusetts requires school districts to schedule 185 days of school a year for a minimum of 180 days.

+1 I think MCPS's blatant efforts to provide as little instructional time and work hours as possible within legal constraints (repeatedly building in only one snow day after repeatedly needing more, meeting the state requirements with useless half days at the end of the year, giving office staff an entire week off for a snow storm when most workers were back after 2 days) are indicative of an entitled bureaucracy that exists to serve itself and nobody else. No surprise they are constantly changing the curricula so whoever is in charge can take credit for something and laser focused on creating new specialized programs when they have utterly failed at properly implementing and supporting the programs they have in place. The people in charge at MCPS are sociopaths and they DGAF that the majority of students are not graduating at a baseline level of proficiency in math and science.[/quote]
