It was well-known that she hated being photographed.  There was a video of her with JFK Jr being hounded by photographers in a parking garage and she just completely shut down.  She found the attention so unbearable that she didn't even want to live in NYC after they were married.[/quote]

That's a good question. He dated a lot of famous women before getting serious with Carolyn- Madonna, SJP, and Daryl Hannah who was right before Carolyn.  I think she managed to remain anonymous until they got engaged and moved in together.  I didn't remember all the details and had to google, but they were engaged in 95 (and she moved in) and secretly married in 96.  Apparently they didn't become committed until 94.  She could have flown under the radar for a year there, especially since Daryl Hannah was right before her, then Jackie died, and nobody was probably focused on a relatively anonymous employee of Calvin Klein.  I think the media just didn't know who Carolyn was until they got engaged.  This was all pre-internet, too.  [/quote]
