This article in The Atlantic is haunting (written from the parent's perspective) but also full of specifics on symptoms/outcomes: https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/02/child-dies-measles-vaccines/685969/?utm_campaign=atlantic-daily-newsletter&utm_content=20260213&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&lctg=67e294c002b53fc1d00229ae&utm_term=The%20Atlantic%20Daily
I just read that and couldn’t help thinking, “Well, duh” and “No $&@t”. It also seemed that the parental character waited quite a long time to seek medical help.
Same. Although it wouldn't have changed the outcome, I couldn't believe how long the mother waited to take the 5 year old to the doctor. Who has a child sick for multiple days with a fever spiking to 104 without at least calling the pediatrician? The implication is that the reluctance to do so was partly because of the tense relationship with the doctor over her decision not to vaccinate. (It's a fictional account, an amalgamation of real stories.)
