Sure, yay for JLo for staying in shape…but shouldn’t her goal be looking gorgeous AND being taken seriously by the industry and viewers around the world?

I think you're bringing some specific baggage to this with the comparison with these two. They have totally different vibes and that has always been the case. Of course you like Jen G.'s style more; I do too, because I could pull it off. That's irrelevant.

What you're saying is that how women dress should impact how seriously they're taken in the film/fashion industry and that women of a certain age should slink away and not offend others by their *fashion* choices. Nah. Timothy Chalamet a few weeks ago matched his GF in the most hideous orange outfit. No one questioned his seriousness as an actor. If JLo wants to continue to land on the worst dressed list because she’s Hell bent on showing far too much skin for a Hollywood event, that’s her prerogative.

But the reactions across social media and mainstream media are pretty clear: she doesn’t look good. Despite having a great body, she isn’t dressing it well.

She could still be sexy while covering up her belly button. But she’s opting to show so much skin and she’s being judged for it. You’d think she would learn and make some adjustments.

I think she’s desperate to remain seen as a sex symbol. That’s fine. But heck, even Kris Jenner (who similarly clings to her youthful appearance) doesn’t show the world her belly button.

FTR, I think Emma Stone looked just as bad in her belly button baring train wreck of a dress.

Everyone showed some skin last night. But women showed too much skin. JLo was one. The ridiculous butt crack dress was another. Emma Stone another.

Nobody ever looks classy showing that much skin.

And the women with the best stylists did a great job avoiding anything to over the top—or anything that showed aging that would negatively detract from the polished look.

Everyone ages. But the fashionistas know what to showcase vs what to tone down.

ICYMI: there is no rule that compels women to universally support the fashion missteps of privileged celebrities.

And there are basic tenets of decorum and aging gracefully—which is why certain celebs are praised for their classic elegance and aging with style and grace.

JLo simply skews all common sense when she insists upon baring too much skin and presenting herself like a sexpot.

Surely you recognize that every woman who prepares to attend a Hollywood awards event goes through a months-long process of determining what image she wants to project to the industry and the world. And presumably JLo says something like, “I want to showcase my belly button.” It’s weird, and it isn’t doing her any favors.
