I think the Costco shrimp cocktail is fine.  I’d probably make my own cocktail sauce because it’s so much better than jarred stuff.  But the shrimp…it’s just steamed and chilled shrimp.  Costco can do that just the same as I would but saves a time and mess of peeling, etc. The ham is also something I think Costco would work for.  If your serving spiral cut ham, they are nearly all full cooked already.  Some people add own glaze and cloves- but it’s not like they are cooking a ham from scratch anyhow.  But sauces, dips, meatballs, sides, and pretty much everything else I’d make my own. The carinal sin is if you are tasked with bringing ONE item to a holiday party and you show up with a Costco pie. C‘mon. Someone else is doing all the hostessing, prep, cleaning, etc. the least you can do is show up with someone homemade are from a high quality bakery/cafe.[/quote]
