Not all American youth are uneducated or incapable. Recent posts and social media narratives paint a this picture — suggesting that America’s future is doomed and that only immigrants can fill skilled jobs. This is simply not true. Despite the shortcomings of the K–12 education system, many intelligent, hardworking, and talented young Americans continue to excel across a wide range of fields — including the children of immigrants. Please stop spreading the false narrative that Americans are “dumb.” The challenges posed by technology (games or social media obsessions) and modern society exist everywhere, not just in the United States.
If people live in states below 20th ranked Montana you should expect poor outcomes. https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/public-school-rankings-by-state
No matter how good the schools are, if you rank the 51 states, most of them will always rank below 20.
D.C. is not a state, nor should it ever be. But were D.C. a state today, in 2025, it would rank dead-last (by a wide margin) on SAT scores. At least try to be ready for prime-time before trying to make an argument for statehood; D.C. is not even trying to offer an adequate public education to its youth, which is why families (like the Obamas) send their children to Maryland for a private school education.
I’m not trying to make an argument for statehood, just pointing out that the linked ranking system ranks the public schools in 51 geographical-governmental units. Even if DC had the best schools on earth, 31 out of those 51 units would still be ranked below number 20. If you are waiting for 51/51 units to be ranked in the top 20, you’re going to be waiting for a very long time.
