I don't know.  We don't do this with other huge impactful events.  Newton deaths of 6 yr olds - I mean - that's a pretty big one symbolically and literally.

I think sometimes you simply have to move on.  Always remember in the sense that you'll never forget but the annual tradition of remembering means you can never quite move forward and life is to be celebrated and lived.  I'm pretty sure the sacrifice by those who were brave enough to lose their lives is trying to help the living to such goals.

You just can't dwelling on it.  We rebuilt the damn area up - now it's time to absolutely focus on current events.  No reason why personally I'm private those who want to do more that day can't.  But after 23 years, it's just time.  We won't ever forget it even if we didn't mark the day so ostentatiously. It's not being dishonorable to the fallen - it's honoring life and living and a better thing to do. [/quote]
