Yep, I totally agree!  I look at it a different way though. After living many years in Europe and Latin America, I missed out beautiful undeveloped natural landscapes.  Even in the most remote places in Europe there are people EVERYWHERE.  Like there is no where to go to get away from it all.

That said - my ideal form of skiing would be US mountains and snow (CO/WY style) with Swiss or French restaurants.  I love skiing in the Alps for thr culture, but the actual skiing sucks , and I don't think they even know what champaign powder is.  However, when. I go to Breck or Jackson Hole the skiing is great and the food is... well..... I wish it were the food scene in the Alps.[/quote]
