Some are saying we can't be a top level soccer country because it's not popular. 
The numbers say its very popular and millions of kids are participating.

DP - Numbers are very much the issue when it matters. Just because a kid plays soccer when they're too young to play basketball/football doesn't mean we are nation of soccer lovers. The prior poster did a disservice by saying "activity that involves movement" but, low level young rec is essentially that for most participants. When it gets more serious at 11v11 so many of those kids have quit soccer for the actual popular sports in the US.[/quote]

Some do that, but most just quit all sports because they were just forced to do it by their parents when they were too young to have a choice. Many of those are included in those youth participation numbers. [/quote]

and kids in Africa, Europe, South America, Asia etc at 5, 6, 7 are dictating to their parents which activities they wish to do?[/quote]
