+1 I went to one of the top high public schools in the state and 10% of my graduating class went to UNC. I had one classmate who went to Wake Forest. Other classmates went to NC State, Appalachian State, East Carolina or UNC Wilmington. Also with UNC...you could apply early decision in-state and my parents made it pretty clear that if we got in, that's where we were going, so it's the only college I applied to. Both my sisters went to UNC, too. [/quote]

Same -- my parents were really clear that if I got into UNC, that was where I was going. I think in state tuition was something like $4000 for the year. I applied to private colleges and got into about half, and even got a half scholarship to one (BU, which is generous to NMSFs), but they were all so much more expensive, it didn't make sense.

I was worried it would feel like an extension of high school since my entire AP English class went there, but then I realized that every school in NC sent their entire AP English class there. That, plus the brilliant out of state kids.  [/quote]
