No but I also don't really blame a person (in general, not in this specific situation) for being pragmatic about marriage and finding a way to get what they want out of life (economic security, motherhood) as long as the relationship can be mutually beneficial and not abusive. I don't think you have to marry for romantic love and I think sometimes the ideal of perfect romantic love via marriage gets in the way of what you have to do to make a decades long marriage work (compromise, give each other space to be your own people sometimes, divide and conquer, work through personal crap that might mean the marriage doesn't function perfectly for a while and then come back to each other as true partners). I sometimes wish I'd prioritized money more in marriage. Not because I want to be a SAHM and never have to work (I like working and would work in some capacity no matter what) but because money is an enormous source of stress and while I love my partner and we work well together, he can be short sighted about money in a way that puts a lot of pressure on me. If I could have my exact same partner but he has family money and a more pragmatic understanding of how money works, that would be pretty nice. But also Trump is a wanna-be dictator who has done enormous harm to so many people, that part I don't understand. At some point you need to pull your head out of the sand. I don't understand how anyone in his orbit allows this to go on, it's grotesque.
Eastern European women are much more pragmatic like this. The whole culture is very get-what-you-can and they don't have the puritanical morals that we do in the US. Lying and cheating to get what you want are the norm. You're considered a loser if you don't have the ability to game the system there. From the standards of her native country, she did very well. She married with huge gains to wealth and status, brought her parents over to have a much better lifestyle, and is likely staying with Trump to benefit her son. She's looking out for herself, her parents, and her son and likely doesn't care about anyone else. This is in line with the values she grew up with. She's a good daughter and mother from her family's perspective. I do think that Ivana was truly in love with him though.
This seems likely. Also, she fitted herself into his world and didn't try for a career or attention I remember seeing an article about them with photos posed in his Trump tower apartment. It looked exactly the same as it always had, all the gold trim, etc. Not sure if he wanted Ivana to pursue a career with his company or she wanted it but that seemed to be a conflict. Melania doesn't seem to want one. She had her parents and child which was probably her highest priority.
