We toured it and they say all of the things you want to hear as you are sending your kid away from home. When I was driving home my daughter and I both had feelings of apprehension and a lot of questions. How do they afford all of these projects without a big endowment. Why does everyone seem to worship the president of the school (in a cultish way). Honestly feels like a scam..,
Seems like a scam and a cult. I'd definitely check out their financial info and anything else you can find before sending someone there.
No data to support my opinion, but it feels like Liberty w/out the religion.
Do not be mistaken, there’s definitely a prevalent religious element to HPU. Their theme is “God. Family. Country.” https://www.highpoint.edu/values/god-family-country/
Oh the horror!!
I mean, it’s pretty weird for an institution of higher education. And important for prospective families to know that there is in fact a religious element at HPU.
No, it's NOT pretty weird. Historically, the Church founded and funded all of the earliest universities and is responsible for many of the earliest discoveries in sciences, mathematics and philosophy. There is nothing new or "weird" about religious-based institutions and the scientific search for truth.
