No, it's NOT pretty weird.  Historically, the Church founded and funded all of the earliest universities and is responsible for many of the earliest discoveries in sciences, mathematics and philosophy.  There is nothing new or "weird" about religious-based institutions and the scientific search for truth.[/quote]
