No, that's not the only reason but it's not a crime to consider that as well. College is no less important than HS. DC is very much into Blair but seeing how defensive Blair parents are about college placements gives me pause.[/quote]

Oh my. Did you talk with the magnet coordinator? He very clearly says that you should not pick the Blair magnet because you are focused on college admissions. Pick it because it’s the right fit for your kid. Blair magnet college admissions are impressive - every year - but the administration of the program very much downplays this. They focus on the other benefits of the program and this culture is evident with the parents too.

I was there and I saw that, and I liked it. It's too early to stress about college. But I didn't get the impression that the thought of college is not allowed to cross your mind. I am even more surprised that Blaire parents are so defensive about it.
