What do you mean connected?
Non-DMV here, and in our community, its usually the wealthiest kids that get in. However, after Varsity Blues, I don't think there's any quid pro quo - I just think Vanderbilt likes the VERY wealthy kids whose parents have BIG jobs (and probably have a LONG history of donating millions to our private school). But just a guess.
