It COULD have been an opportunity to focus on accomplishments of the Biden administration--maybe infrastructure funding that has gone to a red state that has started a highway project. Maybe the US -China trade deficit having gone to the lowest since 2010. Maybe to the work with Mexico to reduce arrivals at the border. And she could have articulated a focus on how she wanted to approach Ukraine or Gaza in a way that would not undermine her current boss but still carve out something unique to her. Certainly she would have known the question would be asked.

Obama did worry after the 2016 election that it showed backlash, and I suspect if he didn't want her as a candidate it was because that backlash hadn't gone away. It's kinda too bad she didn't stay in the Senate, I think she could have become a prominent Senator. [/quote]
