I really have no idea why people on here are so obsessed about trashing SS and acting like they live in areas that are free of crime. My theory is that people just want to defend having paid so much money to live in their high-priced areas that are not any safer than SS.

Just because you dislike SS and insist on making every crime in SS worthy of ten posts on DCUM, that does not make your dislike justified, especially as you ignore all the comparable crime happening elsewhere. I hope you've found what you're looking for in NoVA, but for anyone who wants a safe area that is full of great people and wonderful neighborhoods, SS is an excellent choice.[/quote]

I don’t live in NoVa — I’m a city guy, so I couldn’t live in NoVA or MoCo given the choice. I’m very happy in DC.

That being said — I enjoy real estate and I try to see the world for what it is. The reality is SS, and MoCo broadly speaking, is on a bad trajectory. NoVa is far nicer, and more dynamic. MoCo doesn’t really have job centers, and the activity that brings such as young people and financial growth. NoVa has tysons, pentagon city, and clarendon — massive growth in all three. The closest thing MoCo has is Bethesda — a bedroom community with no jobs except for a few names such as Mariott, no young people or night life, etc.

Silver Spring is nothing like Bethesda. It is a mess — read this article:

Arlington is a complete disaster right now:
-- Arlington has abandoned or delayed most of HQ2
-- Boeing is in the midst of massive layoffs
-- Office vacancies are at historic highs (https://www.arlingtonmagazine.com/office-vacancy-crisis-taxes-arlington-virginia/) -- this is creating a revenue crisis that will force unprecedented tax increases in the years to come
-- As noted above, Arlington's own police departments has acknowledged that Arlington crime is getting worse and that Arlington is on a negative trajectory with respect to crime
-- Arlington's apartment vacancies are rising, such that Arlington is planning to give illegal immigrants free housing (https://www.arlnow.com/2024/03/04/arlington-considers-removing-immigration-status-requirements-for-low-income-housing-grants/)

If you're not familiar with MoCo job centers, it's because you're not paying attention. Moco has tons of pharmaceutical companies (it's in the top 3 in the nation for pharma), as well as lots of tech companies. You can start educating yourself here:
